🧠 What Is Wownero?

Wownero is a fun, privacy-focused meme coin based on Monero, but with some key differences:

  • 100% CPU mining, no GPUs or ASICs!
  • No premine, no ICO, and no dev tax
  • RandomWOW algorithm resists botnets and farm-level mining

That means you can still solo mine Wownero at home and actually find blocks.

🔧 What You Need to Get Started

  1. A desktop PC or laptop with at least a modern CPU (2015+)
  2. An internet connection
  3. About 15 minutes
  4. Optional but helpful: an SSD for fast syncing

🚀 Step-by-Step Wownero Mining Guide

✅ Step 1: Download the Official Wownero Wallet

You’ll need a wallet to receive your mined WOW coins.

  1. Go to Google and search for Wownero GUI wallet, there you will find the download in the next step.
  2. Download the latest Wownero GUI Wallet for your OS (Windows/Linux/macOS)
  3. Unzip and run wownero-wallet-gui
  4. Choose Create a new wallet
  5. Save your seed phrase securely, this is how you recover your coins!

Once your wallet is open, it will begin syncing with the blockchain (this can take a while, but you can mine while it syncs).

⛏️ Step 2: Download the WOWario Miner (Fast + Easy)

This is the simplest CPU miner made for noobs, developed by the community.

  1. Go to: https://codeberg.org/
  2. Search for Wownero.
  3. Download the latest release for your OS:
  • Windows: wowario-miner-windows.zip
  • Linux/macOS: build from source or use a package if available
  1. Unzip the miner

🔗 Step 3: Start Solo Mining (Best Option!)

Wownero makes solo mining super easy using your own full node. This means no pools, no fees, and you keep 100% of the block reward.

  1. In your GUI wallet, click Settings → Mining
  2. Enter the number of threads you want to use (e.g., 4 for a 4-core CPU)
  3. Click Start mining

That’s it! You’re solo mining from your own node.

💡 Tip: You can monitor progress under the Status tab. If you get lucky, you’ll hit a block and your balance will jump!

💰 Step 4: Be Patient (and Adjust Expectations)

  • WOW blocks are found every ~1 minute
  • Block reward is ~50 WOW
  • Depending on your CPU, you might find 0–5 blocks/day
  • If you’re unlucky after a few days, you can try mining to a pool for more consistent (but smaller) payouts

☁️ Optional: Use a Mining Pool

If you’re not syncing a full node or want more predictable earnings:

  1. Visit Google to find a a Wownero mining pool that is current, thereare several here are some examples.
  2. Choose a listed mining pool like:
  1. Download XMRig: https://github.com/xmrig/xmrig/releases
  2. Run with:
   ./xmrig -o pool.wowne.ro:3456 -u YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS -a rx/wow -k

Replace YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS with your wallet from Step 2.

🛡️ Pro Tips

  • Mining works best on CPUs with lots of L3 cache (e.g., Ryzen 3900X, 5900X, or Intel i7/i9)
  • Laptops can mine, but they’ll get hot, use CPU throttling or limit threads
  • Keep your wallet open and synced to see your WOW arrive
  • Join the Wownero community on Reddit or Matrix if you want help or to show off your hashrate

🦄 Final Thoughts

Wownero is one of the last truly solo-mineable coins, and it rewards those who stick with it. If you’ve got a spare PC or a Raspberry Pi 5, you can let it mine 24/7, who knows, you might hit a few blocks a week and become the next WOW whale.
